8 Hair Masks for Oily Hair to Promote The Healthier Look You Always Wanted

In the last couple of months, I have been experiencing some hair masks for oily hair trying different kinds of natural items and products and the results impressed me, I didn’t imagine that my hair will take that leap in the way it looks. I have always wanted that shiny Vav Vom look and who doesn’t! but with an oily hair experience the opposite is the case, most of the time I don’t like using chemicals or heat on my hair, that is why searching natural and of course budget, friendly items is what I love.
After covering up my washing hair routine which made a huge difference to my hair’s health, I was thinking of going much deeper to try some of these natural and DIY hair masks for oily hair. Won’t lie to you, I am not a big fan of cooking over my head but I also love trying new stuff. It is satisfying, calming, relaxing on Saturday night while laying in a tube or just on coach craving some amazing food (What is better than that!).

It is always greasy, has these annoying dry ends, and the things go worse if you dealing with that oily dandruff which blocks your scalp and destroys hair totally. Not any natural items will go with your oily hair, you need to use ingredients that diminish that greasy feature and benefit each part from scalp to the ends. You need to try more and more masks until you find ones you feel comfortable with.
Here are 10 hair masks for oily hair that I enjoyed trying
1. Green Tea Mask
Ingredients:
½ Green Tea
1 Cup of Water
10 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil
This is one of the best hair masks for oily hair I have tried, other than its benefits it is so calming and relaxing. Start with making the tea, as usual, adding tea to water and let boiling then simmer for nearly 5 minutes. Strain then let it cools down adding the lemon essential oil. Apply on your hair for nearly 45 minutes then wash hair with lukewarm water and finish with cold water.
Green tea is full of antioxidants and that clean your hair and vanish any kind of dirt and bacteria, it also has a significant amount of caffeine that also stimulates hair follicles to increase growth. Another great benefit for green tea is being an amazing tonic for hair besides astringent properties that moisturize and give your hair that incredible shiny look.
Lemon essential oil balance the secretion of sebum in the scalp to remove greases and diminish any sort of dandruff.
2. Honey, Lemon, and Aloe Vera Mask
Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Juice
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Raw Honey
This is also a lovely mask I decided to use often, that is because it gave me deep nutrition without being too thick over my head. All the component hair need for shyness, volume, and health. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on your hair for 20 minutes, if you want deep moisturization to add one egg yolk. Rinse with lukewarm water then use your own shampoo and end with cold water.
Aloe vera has antioxidants and antibacterial properties that kill any fungus or bacteria caused by dandruff or dirt, it also moisturizes and coats every follicle. Lemon juice balances the sebum section which is very crucial for oily hair while honey also has antibacterial and antioxidant properties that give your great benefit.
I go for that mask if I am going for an important event or occasion, it makes my hair looks like made by a professional. It makes these little frizzy hairs vanish as they have never been there. It also gives it a healthy shiny look, so if you don’t want to apply tons of chemicals on your hair to tamp a frizzy look go for this mask.
3. Yogurt Mask
Ingredients:
Plain Yogurt
1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
1-2 Teaspoons of Lemon Juice
This is one of the most satisfying hair masks for oily hair especially if you want to relax your body from head to toe while listing to your favorite music. You may think that yogurt may be heavy or thick on contrary it is light and you should use amount depending on your hair length. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on your hair for 40 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water after that apply your shampoo and end with cold water to close your pores.
Yogurt is a great cleanser for your oily hair because of its antibacterial properties, it also works as a deep moisturizer that gives your hair a shinier and more healthy look. Baking soda also works as a cleanser that is because it balances the secretion of sebum that blocks your scalp and prevents hair growth.
4. Strawberries Mask
Ingredients:
¼ or ½ Cup of Strawberries
1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice
Mix all the ingredients together and always use freshly squeezed juices, After blending the strawberries make sure to run through a thieve to get rid of these tiny seeds, apply on your hair for 10 minutes and if you got leftovers to apply on your face as well to get double results. Rinse with lukewarm water and wash your hair as you always do.
Strawberries packed with vitamin C which necessary for your skin and hair health to keep them shiny and glowy.
5. Egg White and Lemon Juice Mask
Ingredients:
1 Egg white
Juice of One Lemon
Egg masks always a great choice for beauty whether for skin or hair that is because of the great benefits of it, I am not a big fan of facial egg masks because of the odor and the texture but for hair, it works very well and I was impressed with the results.
For this mask, you will need to use your strength a little bit, beat it hard until it hardens then add the lemon juice then apply on your scalp for 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and wash with your regular shampoo.
6. Rosemary Mask
Ingredients:
2-3 Freshly Chopped Rosemary
1 Cup of Water
7 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
5 Drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil
Start with boiling the fresh rosemary in one cup of water, strain then let cool down and add the other ingredients. Pack in a bottle and spray over hair and massage your scalp then let sit overnight, strain the next morning with lukewarm water and use your shampoo.
Rosemary packed with benefits that give you healthier and shinner hair, while tea tree oil and lemongrass oil balance the secretion of the sebum in your scalp to prevent it from blocking the hair growth.
7. Aloe Vera Gel Mask
Ingredients:
2-3 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel
1 Tablespoon Grapeseed Oil
1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
7 Drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil
Aloe vera used in tons of beauty products so why using manufactured items while you can get the same benefit with the raw material and way less money. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on your hair and scalp, leave for 45 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water then apply your shampoo.
Grapeseed oil is clean your scalp and improves its balance and PH as it controls the secretion of sebum and the formation of oily dandruff.
8. Apple Cider Vinegar Mask
Ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar
Water
10 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Apple cider used widely in DIY beauty recipes, I don’t prefer using it on my face because it is very strong and I was afraid using over my head as well but I heard great feedback of it for oily hair so I decided to give it a shot.
The most important tip for this mask is using the same ratio for both vinegar and water, there isn’t a fixed one you determine it according to your hair length. Mix all the ingredients together then pack in a spray bottle and apply hair while massaging the scalp then leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water as always then apply your shampoo.
Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid that helps in balancing the PH of the scalp to get rid of the greasy unwanted look for your hair, it also avoids any roots of oily dandruff. It also gives you volume, soft, and shiny hair. Lavender oil is also a great natural product for your oily hair and oily skin as well, it helps you to get rid of hair loss, dandruff, and dry oily hair to promote a healthier hair look.
